One of the most renowned tenkara anglers in Japan, Mr. Katsutoshi Amano shows us how to tie tenkara flies without a vise.
Mr. Katsutoshi Amano is one of the most renowned tenkara anglers in Japan and one of our teachers. The Amano kebari, or amano tenkara fly, is notorious in its simplicity but also the philosophy it represents. Mr. Amano uses only one tenkara fly pattern, his box is filled with flies of identical size and color. He primarily fishes the fly by pulsating the flies 1, 2, 3, 4 times and then recasting. In this video Mr. Amano shows us how he ties his flies without a vise.
I would like to know if there will ever a book, magazine? Also there be a special vise and tools for Tenkara fishing?
Allen, we have a magazine and DVDs available here Tenkara Accessories & More. A book from us is coming soon, but for now there are three tenkara books in English out there. If you are asking for vise and tools specifically designed for tenkara fly-tying, any fly-tying tool and vise can be used.
