Yvon Zill is one of the first tenkara guides in France is certified by Tenkara USA. He has been a very active tenkara instructor and guide in the Basque region.

Since 2010, and after a very regular practice, in different situations, fast and slow rivers, and also pushing the limits of Tenkara with big trout, rainbow and brown, I’m really able to teach you Tenkara fly-fishing. I think that Tenkara fishing is the perfect technic for an immersion in the natural river environment, no noise generated by gear, maximum lightness an efficiency in the drift on flies.
If you wish to discover this ancestral technique, I propose you an initiation with the loan of various model of rods, lines and flies. Then, we shall go to put into practice your new knowledge on the most adapted Basque rivers.

I will guide you on the French part of Basque country, specifically on the Nive rivers system. Much of those rivers are freestone, but the mountains here are not really high, no more than 1400 meters.
We have different kind of waters, from very fast torrent to slow waters on the valley. The rivers I offer Tenkara guiding is “Nive of Baigorry”, “Nive of Beherobie”, “big Nive”, “Laurhibar”, “Bastan”, and also “Nive of Arneguy”.
